Zinc Oxide

Zinc Oxide — full protection, no white cast, no heavy metals. A high-purity (≥99.5%) multifunctional white powder valued for antimicrobial, UV-blocking and skin-soothing properties — with AAS-verified ultra-low lead the sunscreen majors specify.

What it is

Engineered, not off-the-shelf

Zinc Oxide is a rare multifunctional Excipient and active in one: a broad-spectrum physical UV filter, a dermatological active (astringent, antiseptic, skin-protective), and a zinc source for fortification. It's the mineral filter formulators are increasingly switching to as chemical UV filters face restriction and reef-safety concerns grow. What separates a premium Zinc Oxide from a general-industry one is particle engineering (for aesthetics) and lead control (for safety).

Ultra-low lead, verified in-house

Pharmacopoeial ceilings are generous — IP allows NMT 50 ppm, BP NMT 10 ppm — and much market material sits close to them. We meet the tighter BP level as standard, and offer a dedicated special grade at <5 ppm for sunscreens, moisturisers, paediatric and ingestible use. Every lot's lead is tracked in-house on our own AAS — not sent to an outside lab. With surface area of 20–30 m²/g and nanoscale particle sizes, our no-whitecast grade spreads clear while keeping full UVA/UVB protection.

Key applications

  • Topical ointments — astringent, antiseptic, skin-protective (e.g. calamine, barrier creams)
  • Sunscreens — broad-spectrum mineral UVA/UVB filter, no whitecast, reef-safe positioning
  • Cosmetics — matte finish, whitening and thickening in creams
  • Food fortification — zinc supplementation
  • Industrial — rubber vulcanisation, ceramics and coatings

FAQs

Zinc Oxide — common questions

How low is the lead in your Zinc Oxide?
≤ 10 ppm as standard (meeting the tighter BP limit), with a dedicated special grade at < 5 ppm — verified in-house by AAS on every lot.
Do you offer a no-whitecast grade?
Yes — nanoscale, high-surface-area grades that spread clear while keeping full UVA/UVB protection.
Is it suitable for sunscreens?
Yes — a broad-spectrum mineral UV filter with reef-safe positioning and no whitecast.
What is the assay?
≥ 99.5% ZnO.
Which pharmacopoeias is it certified to?
IP 2026, BP 2025, USP 47, EP 11, JP 18.
