On a running press, three forces work against you: adhesion (powder sticking to tooling), friction (die-wall drag that causes capping and lamination), and poor flow (uneven die-fill and weight variation). Lubricants and glidants counter all three — but add too much lubricant and you trade one problem for another: slower disintegration, softer tablets, poorer dissolution.

  • Target the minimum effective lubricant level — a higher-surface-area Magnesium Stearate lets you go lower.
  • Control blend time — over-mixing Magnesium Stearate over-lubricates; consistent PSD helps reproducibility.
  • Use talc as a glidant where flow, not just lubrication, is the issue.
  • Ask us for the surface area and PSD that match your press speed and formulation.
